Citi FM’s Bernard Avle adjudged Ghana’s Best Journalist for 2017

Director of News Programming at Accra-based Citi FM,Bernard Koku Avle, has been adjudged Ghana’s 2017 Journalist of the Year by the Ghana Journalists Association.

The 37-year-old broadcast journalist who hosts the station’s ‘Citi Breakfast Show’, beat stiff competition from 36 other journalists in the award scheme that saw 548 applications.

Mr. Avle has since joining Citi FM over a decade ago as a reporter, has risen to host the station’s biggest programme and became a household name in morning shows in the country.

He takes over from Kwame Sefa Kayi of Peace FM who won the 2016 award christened PAV Journalist of the Year Award.

He will receive a three-bedroom house an SUV and a cash prize.

Mr. Avle holds a Bachelors of Arts in Economics, an MBA in Marketing from the Warwick Business School and is an ALIWA Fellow, an Edward R Murrow Fellow of Journalism and a Chevening Scholar.
