Ebo Da Costa has won the Men’s Group A of the 2019 MTN Invitational Golf tournament held at the Celebrity Club at Sakumono.

Played at various golf clubs across the country in the year, the MTN sponsored programme travelled to Bogoso, Tema and Tafo before making its final stop on the greens of Sakumono, much to the delight of MTN CEO, Selorm Adadevoh.

“It is indeed a delight to meet and interact with you today after the last engagement at the Tafo Golf Club to celebrate Okyenhene’s 20th anniversary. My gratitude goes out to all of you for honouring our invitation to play the last game in this year’s MTN invitational tournaments for 2019,” said Mr. Adadevoh in his speech.

“The MTN Invitational Golf Tournament has proven to be a worthy opportunity for networking and providing leads for business expansion. It keeps growing and we continue to see active participation. I can only hope that these engagements continue to get better and better,” he added.

In the event, Ebo DaCosta of course emerged overall winner after topping men group A, totalling 36 points to beat runner-up, Joseph Turkson by two points, with 3rd placed Jack Yung Lin a further two shots back on 32 points.

In men group B, Clement Owusu-Darko amassed 37 to win the first prize, A. Adaoye Farousal finished second on 35 points and Ola Sawyer a point back in 3rd spot.

Florence Hurtubise as mentioned earlier, took home the top honours in the ladies’ group A on the back of a total of 36 points in a closely contested event that saw Leticia Amponsah-Mensah and evergreen Mona Myles-Lamptey finish 2nd and 3rd on 35 and 34 points respectively.

Elsewhere, Vastu Amoafo-Yeboah scored 36 points to win ladies’ group B, second spot went to Cathy Fabbi on 30 points whilst Gladys Awuni finished 3rd with 22 points.

The Seniors (players over 55 years) were not left out, Charles Martey beating all to win the men’s category on 37 points whilst Helen Appah totalled 36 points to emerge the ladies champion.

Auxiliary prizes went to Peter Daglo for men’s longest drive and Vastu Amoafo-Yeboah for the ladies in same category. Closest to the pin for men was won by Emmanuel Ocansey whilst the women’s prize went to the good old Mona Myles-Lamptey.
