The Government of Ghana has unveiled plans to provide 50,000 fully funded digital training slots to persons with disabilities under the One Million Coders Programme in 2026.
Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, made the announcement during the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration, emphasizing the government’s commitment to digital inclusion.
“The initiative aims to ensure that all Ghanaians, regardless of physical ability, can access and benefit from emerging technologies,” the Minister said, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve accessibility across government digital platforms.
Hon. George noted that collaboration with the National Communications Authority, industry partners, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection would help enhance affordable and inclusive communication services for all.

He stressed that technology should act as a bridge to opportunity, calling on government, private sector actors, and development partners to collectively support an inclusive digital future.
The training slots will equip participants with coding, software development, and other digital skills essential for thriving in Ghana’s growing technology ecosystem.
The announcement comes as part of broader government efforts to foster equity, improve digital literacy, and empower persons with disabilities to fully participate in the country’s digital economy.
