The Ministry of Education has completed a review and update of key indicators within the Education Management Information System (EMIS) to strengthen the integration of information and communication technology in education service delivery.
The exercise was carried out during a two-day workshop held from Dec. 17–18, 2025, at the YOTA Skills Hub in East Legon. It was organized by the ministry’s Pre-Tertiary Directorate and Statistics, Research, Information Management and Innovation (SRIM) Directorate, in collaboration with Youth Opportunity & Transformation in Africa (YOTA).
The workshop brought together stakeholders from the education and ICT sectors to assess gaps in existing ICT-related data and enhance the ability of EMIS to support effective planning, monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.

Participants reviewed current EMIS indicators and proposed updates to improve data capture on ICT infrastructure in schools, teacher digital competencies, learner access to digital tools, and the actual use of technology in teaching and learning.
Key outcomes from the workshop included agreements to integrate the revised indicators into the next national school census, strengthen data collection processes at the school and district levels, and expand the scope of ICT-related data coverage across the education service.

Officials said the updated indicators would provide more accurate and comprehensive data to guide policy development and resource allocation.
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening education data systems as part of broader efforts to support ICT-enabled teaching and learning and improve education outcomes nationwide.
