The Ghana Police Service, operating through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), has postponed the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement system, TRAFFITECH-GH, moving the launch date from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
According to an official press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate, the extension aims to facilitate broader public awareness and education regarding the initiative.
The extra month will be used to better inform motorists about how the system operates, the specific traffic violations it will detect, and how Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be issued.
TRAFFITECH-GH is part of the Police Service’s broader strategy to curb road indiscipline and boost overall compliance with traffic laws across the country.
The Police Service has advised drivers, vehicle owners, and the general public to utilize the extended window to familiarize themselves with the system before enforcement officially begins.
In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer at the Public Affairs Directorate, the police expressed gratitude to the media for their ongoing support and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to improve road safety across Ghana.
