Talented Kidz winner weighs in on Accra floods, galamsey menace et al.

Talented Kidz finalist, Nakeeyan Dramani has joined the call for rapid solution towards dealing with issues of flooding in most parts of the country.

Most parts of Accra and other cities across the country are usually flooded when it rains, leading to the loss of lives and property whenever it rains.

There have been calls from political stalwarts, civil society organizations and many well meaning Ghanaians for government to intervene and find a long lasting solution to this growing menace.

It is on the back of this growing concern that poet and the eventual winner of the 10th anniversary edition of TV3’s Talented Kidz, Nakeeyat Dramani added her voice to the call to action.

Reciting a galemsey and flood themed poem at the grand finale at the National Theatre on Sunday, May 2, Nakeeyat charged Ghanaians to be disciplined and refrain from building on waterways.

She also called on all and sundry to practice cleanliness and refrain from littering around, a situation that causes drains to choke whenever it rains.

The poet also called on government to put measures in place to deal with the issue of flooding across the country.

On galamsey, she urged illegal miners to refrain from the act in order to preserve water bodies in the country.

For the second part of her performance, Nakeeyat showed up as child’s advocate making a clarion call to end child marriage.

She charged parents to take their ward’s welfare seriously and ensure they are not forced into early marriage.

Nakeeyat also tasked authorities to ensure the laws work when it comes to perpetrators who force their kids into early marriage.

The talented poet also called for an end to child abuse in the country, charging parents and authorities to ensure kids are enrolled in school to become useful citizens when they grow up.
