Member of Parliament for the Achiase constituency in the Eastern Region, Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, is not a happy man when it comes to the current state of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The MP, has lamented about how the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is fast losing it essence in Ghana’s political landscape, indicating it is almost “collapsed”.
According to him, the party which left office barely six months ago is collapsing before their very eyes, asking for a new way of doing things.
Arguing further, the unenthused MP went on to say that the party is on the “floor flat” after that costly 2024 campaign and election.
The NPP, he asserted sadly that, is on a self-destructive mode with the heavy defeat from the hands of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), warning the party will sink further if things remain the same.
“The NPP party if we are not careful and we continue on the path we are on, the party will collapse on our hands”, he said in a recent interview.
The governing party, he said, is also not helping matters, accusing the NDC of taking serious interest in how to collapse the main opposition party.
Speaking on Accra-based Happy FM, Kofi Marfo said the NDC, he accused, is happy it main opponent is in this state and it is working to ensure it collapses. He claimed, the governing party is eagerly helping the NPP destroy itself.
“The NDC too has seen that we want to collapse our party, so they are doing everything to help us collapse it”, he added.
He attributed events leading to the last general election as the main reason for the party’s humiliating defeat.
He said the attacks and washing of dirty linen in public, caused a great disservice to the party which was campaigning to break the eight-year cycle.
Asked if NPP was really collapsing he responded “A party that went for an election and secured 88 when you had 138 and after blabbing and attacking yourselves, your family members, siblings and has reduced the 138 to 88, you are still asking me if our party is on the right path?
Where are we standing? We are not even on our feet; we are on the floor flat”, he said in conclusion.
