Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has confirmed that Latvian authorities have agreed to receive a Ghanaian delegation as part of ongoing efforts to seek justice for Nana Agyei, a Ghanaian national studying at Riga Technical University.
In a statement made on his Facebook handle, Ablakwa said the Latvian Foreign Ministry had officially responded to his request and indicated that officials would be ready to host the delegation in Riga on 20 January 2026. The visit, he noted, forms part of Ghana’s pursuit of truth and accountability in the case.
The minister said he would continue to provide regular updates in the interest of transparency and justice, reiterating his commitment to keeping the public informed as investigations progress.
Ablakwa stressed that the Mahama administration places a high value on the lives and dignity of all Ghanaians, whether at home or abroad. He said the government is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect the rights and welfare of Ghanaian citizens outside the country.
The minister described the planned engagement with Latvian authorities as an important step towards ensuring justice for the Ghanaian student.
