Controversial self-proclaimed prophetess Patricia Asiedu Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, is once again making headlines. Already serving a hefty 15-year sentence for separate fraud charges, Agradaa and one of her co-accused are now desperately seeking a plea bargain with the Attorney General’s office.
This eleventh-hour move aims to avert a full trial in a high-profile case involving the alleged unlawful publication of intimate images.
Sources close to the ongoing legal drama indicate that discussions are underway, though the specifics remain shrouded in secrecy.
Presiding Justice Mary Ekue Yanzuh of the Accra High Court expressed optimism that these negotiations will conclude before the next adjourned date, set for October 21, 2025.
However, not everyone is on board. Enoch Owusu Kissi, one of Agradaa’s co-defendants, has emphatically refused to participate in the plea bargain talks. Instead, his legal team has opted to appeal the court’s earlier decision, which mandated him to present his defense.
This defiant stance adds another layer of intrigue to a case that has seen more twists and turns than a Ghanaian trotro route.
This latest development marks a significant pivot in the legal saga surrounding Agradaa. Just weeks ago, the court rebuffed a “no-case submission” from Agradaa’s lawyers, insisting that the accused had a case to answer.
This ruling paved the way for the defense to present their arguments, but it seems Agradaa is now keen to avoid that showdown.
The case stems from an explosive broadcast on Agradaa’s defunct Thunder TV. Prosecutors allege that during a live show, Agradaa brazenly displayed nude images of Prophet Emmanuel Appiah Fomum before circulating them on WhatsApp.
Her co-defendants, Charles Omane (alias One Gig) and Enoch Owusu Kissi, are accused of complicity, allegedly participating in the broadcast and spewing derogatory comments about the images. They face serious charges of abetment and conspiracy under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).
The journey of this case has been anything but smooth. Initially thrown out by the Circuit Court, state prosecutors relentlessly refiled it at the High Court, where it continues to grind forward.
Adding to Agradaa’s woes, she failed to appear at the last court session on July 7, prompting a stern directive from the judge to prison officials to ensure her presence at all future hearings. She is currently incarcerated at Nsawam Prison.
As Agradaa battles to salvage her freedom, the question on many minds remains: Will the Attorney General grant her a lifeline, or will she face the full wrath of the law for yet another alleged offense?
