The family of the late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings on Friday visited the National Mosque in Kanda, where they joined the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu, and the Muslim community for prayers in her honor.

The delegation of about 20 was led by Klottey Korle Member of Parliament Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and included her siblings Yaa Asantewaa, Amina and Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings. The family expressed appreciation to the Chief Imam for leading a high-powered delegation to commiserate with them shortly after the passing of the former First Lady.

Addressing the congregation, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings described the visit as a reaffirmation of the deep relationship the Rawlings family built with the Muslim community during the tenure of former President Jerry John Rawlings and Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. She said the long-standing bond reflected the harmony between Ghana’s major religions , a harmony she noted was intentionally strengthened during President Rawlings’ administration.

“We are here to thank His Eminence and the Muslim community for the love and support shown since Her Excellency passed,” she said. She added that interfaith unity in Ghana, evidenced by widespread interreligious marriages, is part of a legacy the family is committed to upholding.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings assured the Chief Imam that the relationship between the two families endures beyond the lives of the late former President and First Lady. “The seed that was planted, the foundation that was laid, is one we will fully pursue,” she said.

She also extended an invitation to the Muslim community to attend the state funeral for Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at Independence Square.
