Ghana Premier League giants, Asante Kotoko have set their sights on reclaiming domestic glory and making a meaningful impact in Africa, following what the club describes as a deliberate and strategic recruitment process.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, the club’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, revealed that Kotoko have taken their time to scout and sign some of the best talents in Ghana, with plans to blend them with select foreign additions ahead of the new season.
“We’ve taken our time to sign the best players from the country and will be combining them with some foreign ones,” Duku stated.
He emphasized that the club is targeting young, ambitious, and marketable talents who are not only ready to deliver on the field but also capable of attracting international attention.
“We will only sign young players with a positive outlook, a proven track record, and the ability to attract interest from abroad,” he explained.
Duku was confident that the new squad, once fully assembled, would be capable of surpassing last season’s performance, a feat he believes could result in an early title victory.
“We will field the best players, and if we are to improve just a little on last season’s performance, we will win the league title sooner than anticipated,” he added.
On the continental front, Kotoko are preparing for a return to CAF inter-club competitions and are determined to better their previous records.
“It’s been a while since Kotoko qualified for the group stages in Africa, but this time the goal is to outperform our previous campaign,” Duku said.
The Porcupine Warriors will be representing Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup and expectations are high among fans and pundits alike. The club’s revamped strategy appears focused not just on winning now, but on building a competitive team that can bring back the glory days both at home and on the continent.
