Patrick Awuah has won an international prize for founding an innovative university[/caption] The Founder of Ashesi University, Dr. Patrick Awuah is upbeat about the opportunities available to the school following the granting of the presidential charter to the school. President Akufo-Addo granted a presidential charter to Ashesi University College earlier this month making it an independent degree-granting institution. Speaking with 3FM News, Patrick Awuah attributed the development to the university’s quality and impact on higher education in Ghana. “One thing that a presidential charter does for us is that it allows us to award our own degrees to students , so we’re very pleased, very thrilled for our students who are going to get certificates with the Ashesi name and Ashesi seal on it and they’re all looking forward to that. “And beyond that having a presidential charter actually is the beginning of a new chapter for us, we get to move forward with a little bit more confidence in springing our steps in planning the next step for Ashesi and we also take on more control or more responsibility for quality assurance within our operation which is up until now been done by UCC and UMaT.” Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
