Chief of the Kafaba community Seidu Yahaya has honoured an invitation to the Salaga District Police Command as part of investigations into the lynching of a 90-year-old woman. The chief was at the police station together with some youth of the community. Just a day after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed satisfaction with the active cases of Covid-19 in Ghana, informing his decision to trigger Phase Two of the easing of restrictions, the number has risen. From 3,307, the active coronavirus cases have risen to 3,655, according to the latest update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). Despite the deaths standing at 168, the active cases rose as a result of a relatively slower rate of recovery. The recoveries-cum-discharges are currently at 29,801. Police in Nigeria say they have dropped the investigation into a rape allegation made against popular Nigerian musician D’Banj. “[It] was discontinued as there was no substantial evidence to prove the allegation of rape against the suspect,” Police spokesperson, Umar Sanda, was quoted as saying by local media. D’banj, whose real name is Oladapo Oyebanjo, was accused by a woman, Seyitan Babatayo, of raping her in 2018 in a hotel in Lagos. He denied the allegation.
