Eleven Nigerian military officers were briefly detained in Burkina Faso after their aircraft made an emergency landing in the country, Burkinabè security sources told the BBC. The Air Force C-130 aircraft entered Burkina Faso’s airspace on Monday without authorisation, according to the country’s Territorial Administration Minister Emile Zerbo. In a joint statement, the military governments of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger said their prompt investigation confirmed the “violation of its airspace and the sovereignty of its member states”. But the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said a technical problem meant the plane, which was en route to Portugal, had to land…

A new wave of Ghanaians at home and abroad is redefining what it means to return. It’s no longer just about the December visit or nostalgic trip home; it’s about building, investing, and turning inherited land into a tangible legacy. And at the heart of this quiet revolution is an unlikely catalyst: a residential development in East Legon, called The Barracks, an initiative by Diaspora Homes Ghana Ltd. The Barracks Ghana is a carefully designed residential development currently under construction, timed to coincide with people returning to Ghana for the December season. This creates an ideal opportunity for individuals, families,…
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has cautioned members of the newly inaugurated governing board of the Road Maintenance Trust Fund against mismanaging resources allocated to the institution. Addressing board members during their inaugural ceremony, he stressed that the fund exists solely for improving Ghana’s road network—not for personal benefit. “It is not a fund to fix your friends. It is not a fund to make your family happy. It is a fund to fix the roads in our country,” he warned. Agbodza stated that the ministry deliberately held back from spending the 2025 allocation until the…
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has revealed that an independent audit is underway to validate certificates submitted by contractors owed by government. He said the move forms part of efforts to establish the authenticity of claims before payments are made. Speaking at the inauguration of the governing board of the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, the minister disclosed that certificates pending payment exceed GH¢8 billion, while accruals available for 2025…

The Auditor-General has defended the integrity of the Minerals Income Investment Fund’s 2024 financial statements, rejecting claims that the accounts contain material misstatements. In a 12th November 2025 letter to the MIIF CEO, the Audit Service responded to a request for a review and restatement of the Fund’s 2024 audited accounts. The auditors insisted that the issues raised by MIIF management were not material or pervasive enough to mislead users of the financial statements. The letter explained that in audit terminology, “pervasive” refers to misstatements or control weaknesses that affect the financial statements in their entirety, not isolated entries or…
The Auditor-General’s Department has dismissed calls from the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) to review and restate its 2024 audited financial statements. The Service insisted that the issues raised do not constitute material or pervasive misstatements. Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has broken his silence on the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw held last Friday. He said his compatriots will be up for such a clash at the global showpiece. Friday’s draw in Washington DC saw Ghana placed in Group L, same as England, where the midfielder has played in the past three years. Asked what he makes of the outcome, the midfielder, who currently plays in North London for Tottenham Hotspur, said: “It’s good to have England in the group.” The former Ajax man pointed out that qualifying for the tournament itself is a big…
