The Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, has elevated the Deputy Director General of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, to the Director-General position. The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Joseph Kofi Adda has urged parliamentarians and Ghanaians in general to cultivate the habit of handwashing as part of daily activities. Making a statement on the floor of Parliament in solidarity with the Global Handwashing Day, marked October 15 every year, the Minister said the day has been set aside by the United Nation to create awareness on handwashing by soap to improve hygiene and enhance livelihood. A tigress that killed four people in the west Indian state of Maharashtra died on Saturday, days after a court upheld an order to kill it. The animal was electrocuted by a fence erected by a farmer to keep out wild boar, wildlife officials said.
