Ghana’s Black Starlets inflicted a heavy 4-0 defeat on India on Thursday in the final Group A game of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. It was a high-tempo beginning as the hosts clearly sent a message of picking their first points at a global soccer tournament. They had lost their first games to USA and Colombia – though ending their second game on a high with their first goal at a men’s football tournament. Starlets’ captain Eric Ayiah, however, proved that the West Africans were among the favourites of the tournament, finding the back of the net before the break.…
Remember those funky bulgy cassette walkmans and ghetto blasters that were around just over a decade ago? How they use to be the audio-play gadgets of the time when there was no other way to listen to preferred music or audio content but to purchase your favourite cassette to play on these walkmans and radios. A lot has really changed over the last decade, right? Compact Disc’s (CD’s) took over, then came the not so sexy first iPod, and now the introduction of Apple Music by Apple Inc, Audible by Amazon, and Google Play Music for Android; bringing audio content…

Programmes ought to be created to right the menace in society in the areas of religion, culture and education, he said. “The media should understand the power it possesses and be aware of the fact that most people in rural Ghana easily accept what’s on television as truthful and using the media to portray unacceptable things creates a ripple effect on the populace and soon everyone is engaged.” Mr Rawlings gave the admonishing on Wednesday when leadership…
Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Hassan Ayariga has rejected claims by many Ghanaians that the new Free Senior High School policy introduced by the New Patriotic Party government is an achievement. On After Hours on TV3, Hassan Ayariga argued that what the NPP term as free SHS should rather be described as, “Scholarship for 400,000 first year students”. He told host Mikki Osei Berko: “I don’t think [free SHS] is an achievement. This is not the first time government has implemented free SHS. [Kwame] Nkrumah introduced free education for everyone. They are giving scholarships to 400,000 students.…
It would be a remarkable achievement for an entrepreneur of any age, but at just 31 years old, Nigerian Adebola Williams has already helped three presidential candidates to election victory. As the founder of political communications agency StateCraft Inc, Williams worked on the campaign that got Goodluck Jonathan elected to the Nigerian presidency in 2011. Four years later he provided his services for the successful election campaign for Jonathan’s rival, current President Muhammadu Buhari. Then, completing his hat trick, he worked on the communication strategies that helped secure the election of Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016. Now Williams has…

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says there is every reason for Ghana and Benin to develop strong, strategic bonds based, inter alia, on the common democratic values that promote human dignity and solidarity. According to President Akufo-Addo, the two countries are recognised as beacons of democracy on the continent and have in the 1990s resorted to the use of the ballot, and not the gun, as the preferred means of electing their leaders. President Akufo-Addo made this known on Wednesday, 11th October, 2017, when the President of Benin, His Excellency Patrice Athanase Talon, paid a day’s working visit to Ghana.…
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) on Wednesday destroyed three 20-footer containers of Asahi Mackerel seized last week. Five hundred cartons of So Nice Mackerel were also destroyed in an operation at the Mile 7 Police Station. But FDA fears some of the products may have found their way to Kumasi, Tamale and Takoradi. Therefore, the FDA regional offices “have embarked on an intensive PMS exercise to ensure the products are not offered on sale to the general public”. FDA intercepted the products on Wednesday, October 4 after a tip-off from residents of Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region. The…
