The Ahafo Region branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has jumped to the defence of two members of Parliament (MPs) accused of inciting violence in Hwidiem last Saturday. According to the Regional Communications Director, Alfred Aboagye, Alhaji Collins Dauda and Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, MPs for Asutifi South and Asutifi North respectively, rather wanted to de-escalate the situation. The Upper East Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for unknown assailants behind the shooting of two personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) stationed at Naagani Basyonde in Garu-Tempane. The officers were shot on their return to base after foot patrols. Their AK47 rifles were made away with by the attackers.
