President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to initiate a process to ensure that Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi and Likpe in the Oti Region are joined into a district. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to engage the Ghana Education Service (GES) to reconsider its decision to ban some 14 students from completing their final exams. The GES on Friday, August 7 announced the dismissal of these students, who were engaged in various violations including raining insults on the president of the republic. They were to also banned from the ongoing West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The students are from Sekondi College, whose PTA Chairman has apologised to the president, Tweneboa Kodua SHS, Battor SHS and Juaben SHS.…

Non-governmental organisation Child Rights International (CRI) has appealed to the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to intervene in the dismissal of 14 candidates of the ongoing WASSCE by the Ghana Education Service (GES). Telecommunication companies in Ghana have rejected claims by the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, that they under-declared taxes. The Minister made the claim in Parliament on Friday.
