Residents of Akatsi in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region are calling on government to complete work on the new Akatsi South District Hospital project started in 2012.  The residents told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) the delay of work on the new facility was putting pressure on the old structure and making access to healthcare a great challenge, because it is the only public health facility in the area. A six-year-old YouTube star known in Burundi for his popular comedy sketches has died of malaria, his manager says. Darcy Irakoze, known as Kacaman, was a primary school pupil who performed online and in theatres. He contracted malaria on Wednesday and died one day later. Malaria has killed over 1,800 people in Burundi this year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). More than five million cases have been recorded in the country since January. A heated debate about market stalls was disrupted by a foul smell and furious finger-pointing at a Kenyan regional assembly on Wednesday, local reports say. “Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is,” Julius Gaya reportedly told Homa Bay county assembly. A total of 1,719 vehicles that were confiscated by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) between 2015 and 2017, and auctioned by the authority cannot be accounted for, the 2018 Auditor-General’s Report has revealed. Additionally, the report indicated that while GRA officials provided information on just 669 of the vehicles, there was no ample proof of the exact amount that was accrued to the state from the auction of those vehicles.
