A total of 173 nursing students have been admitted to pursue top-up sandwich undergraduate programme offered by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC). As the fifth batch of students admitted to pursue the KNUST top-up undergraduate programme at the College, their admission confers on them the rights and privileges as undergraduate nurses in the Ministry of Health and KNUST. Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, Upper West Regional Minister has disclosed that all the nine government ambulances serving the health needs of the people in the region are currently grounded. The Regional Minister who described the situation as sad, said he had contacted the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Ambulance Service, Professor Ahmed N. Beneficiaries of government’s Planting for Food and Jobs programme have received major boost in the marketing of their produce. The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has advanced a facility of GHC50 million to the management of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) towards the purchase of grains from farmers under the PFJ programme. The Kenyasi Police Command in the Asutifi North District of Ahafo Region is on a manhunt for one Frank Naro for allegedly killing a two-month-old girl and butchering her mother Selina Seidu at a cottage near Wamahinso. The grisly incident happened at about 1:30pm on Thursday August 1, 2019. An Accra High Court hearing the trial involving Dr Stephen Opuni and one other on Wednesday dismissed a motion to stay Proceedings pending an interlocutory appeal at the Court of Appeal. A funeral is being held for a 26-year-old woman who gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday despite being brain dead since December. International sportswoman Catarina Sequeira was declared brain dead after an acute asthma attack at her home. The baby, named Salvador, was born when she was almost 32 weeks pregnant and is being cared for in a neonatal hospital. The Management of the University of Ghana (UG), after a diligent search and enquiry, has announced the election of Mrs Mary Chinery-Hesse as Chancellor, to succeed Mr Kofi Annan who retires at the end of July, 2018.
