Private legal practitioner, Egbert Faibille. Jnr, is questioning how persons accused of murdering the military captain, Maxwell Adam Mahama, are being handled by prosecutors; raising fears it could compromise prosecution. Mr Faibille argued transporting the accused persons together in one vehicle to and from court, put them in a good position “to bond and construct their respective and joint defences to weaken the prosecution’s case. “When I see the accused persons in the Captain Mahama trial brought to and from court in the same vehicle, I cringe,” he said in a Facebook post. For him, at this early stage where…

I know a group of men. They march everywhere they are told. Sometimes they are not even told, yet they march. They know their duties. They respond to the call even in sleep….if lucky to get one. They sit on the wall of life. They sit to protect the fruits in the garden of the wall. The women, children, the sick and lame. The weak and elderly. Sometimes, the very fruits bites their headoff. Their duty can be cold, banal, looooonely and excruciating. Yet someone has to do it. They never ask much. Most times just a bit of water…
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has stated that the GHȼ9.7 billion bond were issued in local currency and not denominated as dollar bond. He said the recent bond issuance was transparent and any allegation of conflict of interest was borne out of lack of understanding of the transaction. Mr Ofori-Atta made this known in response to a motion filed by Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Leader on March 31, on the $2.25 billion. The Minority in Parliament recently raised concerns over the integrity of the country’s bond issue and accused the government of selling all of the Ghana’s bond to one…
The General Legal Council (GLC) has been asked to do away with “archaic” laws in the country’s legal books to catch up with modernity. A legal practitioner George Loh, who made the called, explained, “these archaic laws were made long ago. They were made when they didn’t have internet by then. They were made when we [Ghana] were not on our own so we need to move away from it now that we are an independent nation”. George Loh was contributing to discussions on TV3 New Day on the renowned human rights lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu, who has been barred by…
Introduction As they say and which I also share, the task of providing quality education, including girls’ education, is about active collaboration, partnership and participation from all of us. If education really is a right and we think “All”should benefit from it, as contained in our nation’s educational plans, including the Education Strategic Plan (2010-2020) or so, and which several international conventions on education, such as the Sustainable Development Goals also profess then there is a clarion need for all and sundry to get involved. Education practitioners and managers should continue to open their doors wide but well secured to…
Some military personnel close to slain Major Maxwell Adam Mahama had wanted to rally soldiers to storm and kill residents of Denkyira-Obuasi, a spokesperson for the late soldier’s family has revealed. Love him. Hate him. Bury his name down the dungeons of your memory but there’s one thing you can’t take away from Shatta Wale; He’s always where you will find him. It’s very difficult to forget about him. You might not like his music, but when you tune into your favorite radio station, your favorite radio DJ will be playing Shatta Wale song. He’s your favorite DJ’s favorite artist. As if I’m a magician. The radio in the corner of our office is playing one of his hit songs right now. My colleague walked to me and asked, “What’s that guy…
