Egypt is closing its airspace to Qatari planes in a growing diplomatic row, with Saudi Arabia and Bahrain expected to do the same on Tuesday. The Ministry of Education has suspended with immediate effect, the transfer of all categories of teaching and non-teaching staff across the country. Sector Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, who disclosed this last Saturday said a number of teachers have applied to be transferred from their stations to mostly urban areas but said that cannot be granted. However, he said those with special reasons should seek permission from the education service. Thirty-four persons have officially been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder in the gruesome killing of a Ghanaian military officer by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi last week. The charges were on Monday evening read to the 34 accused persons, made up of four women and two nursing mothers, who were arrested across the country within the last week.
