Three former officials of the National Communications Authority (NCA) and a former deputy national security coordinator are being investigated by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for an US$8 million murky deal they had with an Israeli company. The management of Ghana Gas has denied media reports suggesting that four helicopters it purchased in 2015 are missing. In a statement on Wednesday, the management was emphatic that the four helicopters, and not seven as was reported, “are currently stationed at the Air Force Headquarters at Burma Camp”. The four Z-9 EH helicopters was commissioned by former President John Dramani Mahama in September 2015 to provide surveillance services to the oil and gas installations in the Western Region. A 30-year-old man who was tied up like an animal and driven about 500 metres on a bicycle at Gozeisi, a suburb of Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region has died. Samuel Abanga was said to have assaulted his brother’s wife, Estether Alahadi, into coma; something that triggered other relatives to torture him by tying his two hands as well as legs together and put on a bicycle. Some key figures in the movie industry have been paying tribute to veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Bucknor, who died on Tuesday, May 23. Bucknor known for his roles in Heritage Africa, Run Baby Run, Silver Rain and Elmina is reported to have passed on in the early hours of Tuesday morning from an undisclosed illness. Former government appointees including those under John Mahama who have failed to return their diplomatic passports to the state are to be blacklisted, Foreign Affairs minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has hinted. Such person will thus be stopped at the airport should they attempt to travel on the said passport, she said. More than 500 Ghanaians living in Saudi Arabia without the necessary residency and work permits have been processed to leave that country under a general amnesty to exit the gulf country.
