Police in Ghana’s Ashanti Region have foiled a planned highway robbery after gunning down three suspected armed robbers during an intelligence-led operation along the Anwiankwanta–Obuasi Highway, authorities said. The Ashanti South Regional Police Command said the incident occurred on 24 December 2025 when officers intercepted a gang that had converged in a bush between Anwiankwanta and the Jacobu junction to carry out the planned attack. The suspects were identified as Seidu Issah, Musah Yakubu and Yahaya Munkaila, also known as Tijani. The Electricity Company of Ghana on Monday announced that a technical challenge affecting MMS-compliant meters has been resolved, restoring normal electricity credit purchases for affected customers. Ghana’s Tema Oil Refinery has resumed crude oil refining operations after several years of inactivity, marking a significant milestone in efforts to revitalise the country’s downstream petroleum sector, the company said in a statement issued on Friday. The resumption follows the successful completion of major turnaround maintenance works on the refinery’s Crude Distillation Unit, carried out between 1 August and 30 October 2025.
