The government has finally backed Ghana’s creative economy with real cash. The 2026 Budget introduces a GH₵20 million Creative Arts Fund to support music, fashion, visual arts, culinary arts, and the wider creative value chains that sustain them. President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the expanded Tema Port after the completion of phases one and two, calling it one of Africa’s most ambitious maritime infrastructure projects. A young man was seriously injured after being struck by the 001 train on the Tema–Mpakadan rail line after failing to move away from the tracks, authorities said. Eyewitnesses reported the train sounded its horn repeatedly, but the man did not respond. The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) urged pedestrians to stay vigilant near train lines. At least five people lost consciousness during an ongoing Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. One recruit is in critical condition at Emena Hospital in Oforikrom Municipality, while four others are being treated at the Ashanti South Government Hospital, authorities said. To prevent further injuries, National Security officers arranged for the Ghana Fire Service to provide water for recruits. Some applicants have been asked to return on Thursday and Friday to reduce overcrowding and lower the risk of a potential stampede.
