The Takoradi Technical University (TTU) has deferred about 1000 students for non-payment of school fees and failure to register for the semester. In a statement signed by the Registrar, Mr. Moses Mclean Abnory and copied to the GNA explained that, 826 students had their programmes deferred due to the failure to register for the second semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. A High Court Judge, Justice Doreen Boakye Adjei, has discontinued the case between the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo and the Auditor-General, Daniel Domelovo. According to her, the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah, has requested for the docket of the case. The court did not give reasons why the Chief Justice requested for the docket. The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) has asked the Electoral Commission to transfer existing data of voters onto the biometric devices to be acquired for the 2020 election. “Instead of stressing Ghanaians with unending reregistration, the EC should think of more ingenious ways of addressing the voter register challenge,” it said. Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé has won re-election, according to preliminary results from the electoral commission. However, opposition leader Agbéyomé Kodjo has accused the authorities of widespread fraud. The president’s office is quoted by AFP news agency as denying the accusation. The electoral commission said that Mr Gnassingbé had received 72% of the vote, compared with about 18% for Mr Kodjo. The final results are expected to be announced by the Supreme Court this week. The current administration of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has denied awarding scholarships to three government appointees whose names have captured as beneficiaries in a performance audit report from the Auditor-General.
