Chief executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyemang has rubbished calls by entertainment critic Ola Michael for him to be made the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture. According to Mr Agyemang, such calls are unhealthy and must not be entertained. Ghana has launched a new general emergency number to replace the current emergency numbers for the various emergency service providers in the country. Effective today, all persons requiring emergency services from the Police, Fire Service and the Ambulance Service are  required to dial 112 on all networks. “In the past, the Police Service, the Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service all had different emergency numbers. Nigerian traders in Ghana have been accused of taking advantage of the Ghanaian market by bringing in goods without paying duty charges which would have contributed towards Ghana’s revenue generation. This allegation was made by Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Nana Poku, who said most of the Nigerian traders bring in goods through the borders at no cost after it has been cleared in another country.
