One person has been shot dead at Kpatinga in the Gushegu municipality of the Northern Region where chieftaincy violence has injured at least five people and left about 20 houses burnt since last Friday. The deceased, identified as Alhassan Abass, a 55-year-old traditional healer, was caught up in crossfire between security officers deployed in the area to maintain peace, and some civilians Sunday morning. Staff of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority are demanding the immediate removal of their board chairman, Air Commodore Rexford G.M. Acquah (retd), who they have accused of unprofessionalism. Commercial rail passenger services from Takoradi to Tarkwa in the Western Region will commence from February 5, the Ghana Railways Company has announced. It follows the completion of rehabilitation works on the Takoradi to Tarkwa rail line and successful test runs.
