Some National Security officials and a deputy chief executive officer of the Northern Development Authority are being sought for by the police as part of investigations into how 400 tricycles belonging to the state were allegedly stolen. Investigators at the Northern Regional Police CID have written to the Authority to release a deputy minister whose name was mentioned in a statement given by Dr Alhaji Abdel-Majeed Haroun who was sacked as the chief executive of the Authority. Teachers in the various technical universities have declared indefinite strike following government’s failure to meet a National Labour Commission’s directive to pay them their general allowances by December 2019. The teachers who form the Technical University Teachers’ Association (TUTAG) have been fighting government over its reluctance to migrate them onto the single spine pay structure of public universities despite having gone through a comprehensive staff audit. An “evil serial sexual predator” convicted of 159 sex offences, including 136 rapes, will “never be safe to be released”, a judge has said. Reynhard Sinaga was found guilty of luring 48 men from outside Manchester clubs to his flat, where he drugged and assaulted them – filming the attacks. Police say they have evidence Sinaga, 36, who is being named for the first time, targeted at least 190 victims. The judge ruled his life sentence must include a minimum of 30 years in jail. Two lecturers of the University of Ghana cited in the BBC Africa Eye ‘Sex for grades’ documentary have been exonerated by the university’s fact-finding committee. According to the university, Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor were not culpable of engaging in any act of exchanging sex for grades as claimed by the documentary released last year.
