Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie is set to be sworn in as Ghana’s substantive Chief Justice on Monday, November 17, NewsfileGH can confirm.
The swearing-in is set to take place at the Jubilee House at 3:00pm.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie has acted in the role since the suspension and subsequent removal of Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo.
As the senior-most judge in the superior courts of judicature, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie was later nominated by President John Dramani Mahatma for the topmost position in the judiciary.
He was vetted on Monday, November 10 amidst a controversial walkout by the Minority in Parliament.
He was approved by a Majority-backed Appointments Committee, whose report was laid on the floor on Thursday just before the 2026 budget presentation.
When sworn in on Monday, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie will be the ninth Chief Justice in the Fourth Republic, coming into office after an unprecedented removal of a Chief Justice under the 1992 Constitution.
