The Western Region has become the latest region to openly endorse and appreciate a number of policies former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has announced.
According to the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, the policies will be aimed at curbing neglect and promoting inclusive development if he wins the NPP’s presidential primaries and is elected President to serve the country.
Among the policies Dr. Bawumia has been explaining is the institutionalisation of welfare of grassroots members of the NPP through a database, spreading presidential appointments with a minimum of 10 appointments per constituency and instituting a new constituency-based budget system to ensure inclusive development for all.
During his Western Region campaign tour, some of these policies have came up for praise and delegates have been hailing Dr Bawumia for coming up with good policies to address key concerns of party members.
The NPP’s 2024 parliamentary candidate for Amenfi West, Akwasi Adrifa, was one of the speakers who said he’s declared his support for Dr. Bawumia due to the policies’ consideration for the welfare of both grassroot members and constituencies.
“This is one of the reasons why I support Dr. Bawumia because in this constituency we have been completely neglected having voted consistently for the NDC,” he said.
“So if Bawumia is saying he will do 10 Constituency-based appointments, it means that history will smile on Amenfi West because for 33 years we have never had a minister, a deputy minister, a CEO. We’ve only had an administrator,” said the parliamentary candidate.
“So if Dr. Bawumia is going to implement constituency-based appointment, it means he’s going to give meaning to regional and constituency inclusion. He wants to give us the power so if he wants to give us the power in his appointments, why should we not vote for him?”
Akwasi Afrifa, who said he has devoted his time spreading the benefits of the policies to delegates, urged constituents and party members in the region to support Dr. Bawumia by electing him as the party’s Flagbearer and work hard for him to be President to enable him implement the policies.
“The other day we gave him over 60% so let us make it even bigger this time. Dr. Bawumia has constituencies at heart so let us support him and continue to be strongly behind him.”
In other constituencies Dr. Bawumia visited, various speakers spoke highly of the policies as they declared their unflinching support for the former Vice President.
