The Central Regional Police Command has arrested six juvenile offenders following a violent assault on Rexford Owusu-Ansah, a final-year student of Adisadel College, on 20 February 2026 at Pedu Junction, Cape Coast.
Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a man for the unlawful possession of a large quantity of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs following an operation at Asanso, near Bekwai.

The Volta Regional Police Command has seized 26 sacks of suspected narcotic substances in a major intelligence-led operation, further strengthening its crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
According to a press release issued on 24 January 2026, the operation followed intelligence received on 23 January that a white Ford F150 wagon, bearing Ghanaian registration, was suspected of transporting illicit drugs.
A coordinated team from the Ho Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU), Police Intelligence Unit (PID), and Transport Unit pursued the vehicle through Ho and Tadzope before signalling it to stop at the Juapong Check Point. An initial search revealed two sacks, and further inspection uncovered 36 maxi sacks containing a total of 245.205 yellow oval-shaped wraps suspected to be Indian hemp. The estimated street value of the seized substances is GHC 1,022,500.
The driver, who has been taken into police custody, is assisting authorities with ongoing investigations. All seized exhibits will be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory for detailed examination and analysis.
The Volta Regional Police Commander praised the operation as a testament to the professionalism and diligence of the officers involved. He also encouraged the public to continue providing credible information to support efforts against drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the region.
Chief Inspector Francis Kwaku Gomado, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, emphasised the importance of community cooperation in the fight against narcotics, highlighting the operation as a significant step in safeguarding the region from the proliferation of illegal drugs.
