Ghana’s coronavirus case count has gone past 44,000.
After confirming 169 new cases, the total cumulative cases have reached 44,118 since Thursday, March 12, when the first two index cases were recorded.
But the recoveries-cum-discharges continue to rise, pushing further down the number of active cases.
From the latest release by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Saturday, August 29, 42,581 patients have either recovered or been discharged.
This sees a reduction in the active cases from 1,287 to 1,267.
The deaths remain 270.
Last Thursday, the Director General of the Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye insisted on the safety protocols, stating that Covid-19 is not gone yet.
