Justice Senyo Dzamefe, the Supreme Court justice has revealed how their much awaited appointments to the apex court, has brought enormous relief to them.

According to him, they impatiently waited for their elevation but it never came until it was finally made possible by President John Dramani Mahama.

The respected judge said they were not the only affected and concerned individuals but their families too also showed anxiety and could not wait for them to rise to the highest office of their career.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony as new justices of the apex court, Justice Dzamefe said their families always bombarded them with the question of when they were going to be elevated, wondering why their names never came up on the list of justices.

Despite the snub over the years, Justice Dzamefe, expressed excitement that at long last, they have been recognized.

“The dreadful questions that our children asked “Daddy, this time too your name hasn’t come on the list” today it is over.

To our children, our names have come now but then this is a lesson for us, this is the surest confirmation of the often quoted cliché that “God’s time is always the best”. We pray that the good Lord gives us the strength to do this job given us. May God bless our home land Ghana and bless us all.”

Speaking on behalf of his six other colleagues and in the presence of families and friends, the now Supreme Court justice, who remained at the Appeals Court for over a decade used the opportunity to thank the president.

He also thanked their families and friends and promised they will dispense justice as required of them by the constitution.

“Your Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of my colleagues we thank you very much for appointing us as justices of the Supreme Court as per Article 144 clause 2 of the constitution of Ghana  and secondly, swearing us in this afternoon as justices of the Supreme Court”.

He added “To the people of Ghana, we promise that we will dispense justice to all manner of people without fear or favour, ill will or affection. We also promise you equal justice under law.

To our friends and families, especially our spouses and children, you have been with us through thick and thin. The journey for some of us up to today has been exceptionally long but you never gave up on us, you kept encouraging us, praying for us and supporting us, you had the faith and confidence that this day will arrive and finally it has arrived”.
