…Reaffirms commitment to health and community development

The newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District Assembly, Daniel Mensah Wardy, has officially assumed office, following his overwhelming endorsement by Assembly Members on  April 16, 2025.

Wardy reported to duty on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, after the Easter break. He was warmly welcomed by staff of the Assembly, who accompanied him as he toured various offices to greet and interact with workers present.

Shortly after assuming office, a delegation from Edumfa Heavenly Ministry, led by its pastors, visited the DCE to congratulate him on his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama and his confirmation by the Assembly.

The delegation pledged the church’s unwavering support for the DCE and the government, emphasizing their readiness to collaborate whenever needed.

They also formally invited him and the District Assembly to the One Week observation of the late Osofobaa Maame Rebecca of Edumfa Heavenly Ministry, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Later, Wardy attended a community durbar at Moree, organized by the Community Health Management Committee (CHMC) in partnership with the Moree Health Center. The event brought together key stakeholders including representatives of the District Health Directorate, Ghana Red Cross Society, nurses and physician assistants from the Moree Health Center, officials from the AAK District Health Insurance Scheme, traditional leaders, such as Nana Otwidom, Nana Obokesewaa, Nana Bodwewa II, Nkum Supi, and Bentsir Supi, as well as Assembly Members and other opinion leaders.

Addressing the gathering on the theme “Promoting Healthy Living: The Role of Stakeholders,” Mr Wardy, who also represented the Member of Parliament for the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, commended the organizers and lauded the MP’s significant contributions to healthcare in the district.

He cited key interventions, including the recent facelift of the maternity ward at the Moree Health Center prior to the 2024 elections, the construction and operationalization of the Abokomano CHPS Zone, and the donation of various medical equipment across the district.

Mr Wardy, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to partnering with the Member of Parliament to upgrade the Moree Health Center into a polyclinic to ensure improved access to quality healthcare for residents.

He also extended appreciation to Mr Edward Mensah, head of the AAK District Health Insurance Scheme, for consistently deploying staff to Moree to assist residents in acquiring their health insurance cards—thus reducing the burden of traveling to the district office in Abura Dunkwa. He equally commended the staff of the Moree Health Center for their continuous dedication to quality healthcare delivery.

In conclusion, the DCE called on chiefs, queen mothers, health workers, the Ghana Red Cross Society, the media, and all stakeholders to collaborate in fighting cholera and other communicable diseases in Moree to ensure the health and well-being of the entire district.
