President John Dramani Mahama has visited the 37 Military Hospital, where some 12 persons are receiving treatment following a stampede at the El Wak Sports Stadium.
The stampede led to six applicants dead while five are at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital.
President Mahama, who had called off an official assignment to launch the government’s flagship poultry initiative, was joined by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Acting Minister of Defence Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and other government officials as well as high-ranking security officials for the visit.
The stampede, according to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), was caused by a surge in the applicants for their screening on Wednesday.
It has since been suspended until further notice.
