Ghanaian disc jockey DJ Lord has expressed disappointment, alleging that the management of dancehall musician Stonebwoy forcefully prevented him from playing Shatta Wale‘s songs during the 2025 Guinness Accravaganza.
In a post shared on X on April 1, 2025, DJ Lord claimed that during the concert, he included several Shatta Wale songs in his playlist during his allocated slot.
He explained that the crowd responded positively to the songs, but after playing a few tracks from the musician, he was approached by an event official who informed him that Stonebwoy’s management wanted him to stop playing them.
DJ Lord criticised the action, calling it unprofessional and disrespectful to both his profession and Ghanaian DJs.
“During my DJ set alongside Merqury Quaye, I included some essential tracks of Shatta Wale into our playlist, an artiste whose music forms the backbone of any Ghanaian musical experience. The crowd’s energy confirmed we were on the right track. Until a top Board official of the show intervened.
“At the behest of Stonebwoy‘s management, I was instructed to cease playing Shatta Wale‘s music immediately. Can you imagine? Given my background as a DJ, this is disrespectful and unprofessional,” he said.
DJ Lord further alleged that Stonebwoy‘s team even demanded that, their artiste perform even though his allocated time wasn’t up.
“Just so you know, no headline act has authority over a DJ’s selections for non-performing artistes. Things took another bad turn when Stonebwoy‘s team suddenly decided they wanted Stonebwoy to perform even though I had just begun playing with Kojo Manuel within our allotted slots.
“This isn’t just about me feeling disrespected. There are much bigger problems here. Artiste managers keep overstepping their boundaries, acting like they’re in charge of everything. DJs and MCs keep getting treated as unimportant, even though we’re the ones who keep the energy going and make sure events run smoothly,” he added.
This development has sparked conversations on social media, especially as similar allegations have surfaced in recent times.
Recently, female influencer Ohemaa Asante claimed that Stonebwoy unfollowed her on social media after she recommended Shatta Wale for a project.
