The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon and Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, has donated a range of Made-in-Ghana food items to school feeding caterers in his constituency as part of efforts to improve the quality of meals served to pupils.
The donation, made on Wednesday, forms part of his continued commitment to ensuring the welfare of schoolchildren in Ayawaso West.
Mr Dumelo presented 50 gallons of cooking oil, 400 bags of local rice, 1,000 crates of eggs and one tonne of locally produced chicken to the caterers who operate under the School Feeding Programme.
The MP said the gesture was aimed at strengthening the nutritional value of meals and encouraging the use of Ghanaian agricultural products.
“In line with my commitment to serve Ayawaso West better, I donated these items to ensure quality Made-in-Ghana food prepared for all school-going children,” he noted.
He emphasised that improving children’s nutrition remained a key priority for him, especially at a time when many caterers face rising operational costs.
According to him, the donation is not only a response to immediate needs but also a demonstration of confidence in the local agricultural value chain.
“Supporting our caterers with Made-in-Ghana food means supporting our farmers and strengthening our economy,” he said.
The Deputy Agric Minister further highlighted the importance of encouraging local consumption, explaining that such initiatives help sustain jobs and promote the government’s broader agenda of food security.
He added that similar support interventions would continue as part of his constituency development plan.
“We must ensure that every child gets the nutritious meals they deserve, and I will keep working with stakeholders to make this happen,” he assured.
Caterers who received the items expressed gratitude to the MP for what they described as timely and impactful support.
They pledged to continue delivering safe, nutritious meals to pupils across the constituency, ensuring that the donation contributes directly to improved school nutrition outcomes.
