There has been another outbreak of a strange skin disease in the East Mamprusi municipality in the North East Region.
The disease was this time discovered at the Kurugu community.
Some residents have been experiencing itchy skin with associated rashes.
Victims have sores in-between their fingers, toes, and on their heads with many toddlers developing same on their buttocks.
The Municipal Chief Executive of East Mamprusi, Danladi Abdul Nasir, confirmed the outbreak to 3news.com and noted that samples have been taken from victims for laboratory test.
“What I am aware of is another outbreak of a similar skin disease in Kurugu, in the Sakogu electoral area. The assemblyman called and reported that to me,” the MCE said.
Recently, there was a similar outbreak of a skin disease at the Dagliboali community in the same municipality.
The unknown disease, according to residents, started a day after a downpour in mid-August and spread quickly, affecting almost every household.
Soon, each home had recorded either one or more persons infected, including children, youth and the elderly.
The residents say though they have sought medical attention, the disease continue to spread.
“The itching started with me and gradually spread to my six children, now everyone in this house has been infected,” a victim known as Adiza told our correspondent Zubaida Ismail.
Meanwhile, 3news.com has also gathered that a team from the Disease Control Unit of the Gambaga Municipal Health directorate and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the municipality to ascertain the impact.
