The Electricity Company of Ghana on Sunday announced a technical challenge affecting the purchase of electricity credits for customers using MMS-compliant meters.
In a statement dated 28 December 2025, the power distributor said the difficulty is impacting transactions made through the ECG mobile application, short codes and third-party vendors. As a result, some customers may be unable to buy prepaid electricity credits through the affected platforms.
ECG said its technical team is working assiduously to resolve the issue and restore normal service as soon as possible. The company did not indicate when the challenge is expected to be fully resolved.
The Electricity Company of Ghana apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that updates will be provided through its official communication channels once the problem is fixed.
