The Ministry of Education has announced the approved fees and charges for the 2025/2026 academic year at the University of Ghana.
The directive follows a meeting chaired on January 8, 2026, by the Honorable Minister for Education, in collaboration with the Ministry, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), the University Council, management, and student representatives.
Key fees include the Academic Facility User fee, which remains at the 2024/2025 rate, Student Representative Council (SRC) dues of GH₵50, an SRC Development Levy of GH₵150, and a Graduate Students (GRASAG) Development Levy of GH₵250. Undergraduate students will also pay a Telecel broadband levy of GH₵122, which is optional, and the 75th Anniversary levy of GH₵100, applicable only for this academic year.
The Ministry emphasised that these fees apply solely to the University of Ghana and cannot be enforced by other public tertiary institutions.
In a bid to ensure transparent fee-setting in future, the Honorable Minister has established a Fee Review Committee, chaired by Deputy Minister Hon. Clement Abas Apaak. The committee will review proposed adjustments by public tertiary institutions and submit recommendations to Parliament for approval.
The Ministry called on all stakeholders for continued cooperation to maintain fairness and clarity in student fee administration.
