The Alhaji Dr Adamu Iddrisu Foundation (AAIF) in partnership with The Royal Bank has provided boreholes to the Adu Kofi and Bepoase communities in the Ayensuanu district of the Eastern Region.

Other communities that recently benefited from the benevolence of the Foundation are Nyawer Kplandey near Somanya in the Eastern Region and Kwegyir Aggrey SHS in the Central Region.

This brings to 102, the total number of boreholes that have been constructed and handed over to needy communities across the country since the inauguration of the Foundation in August 2014.

Residents of these communities faced with persistent water shortages can now heave a sigh of relief courtesy AAIF through its “Water for Life” project.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony recently at Bepoase, the Administrator of the AAIF, Ms. Patience Lartey, called on the people to take good care of the mechanized borehole sponsored by The Royal Bank, so that it can last and serve them for years.

The chief of Bepoase, NanaToahYirenkyi stressed that “the painful and stressful days of competing with animals and traveling long distances in search of potable water are now over”.

He expressed happiness that, due to the benevolence of The Royal Bank, the perennial water shortage which has impacted negatively on the social, economic and cultural activities of the people, would be a thing of the past.

According to NanaToahYirenkyi, with the construction of the borehole, about 1400 people in and around Bepoase will be free from the numerous water-borne diseases that put a strain on the incomes and livelihood of the people.

He convened the excitement of his community by the gesture, explaining that the only cassava and palm oil factory, which hitherto was unable to operate all year due to inadequate water supply can now, operate and produce at full capacity.

According to him, this will help generate employment for the teeming youth of the community.

The Assembly woman for the Bepoase Electoral Area, Madam Esther Teiko also thanked the Foundation for helping the community.

She hoped that other organisations will emulate The Royal Bank and also come to the aid of the remaining 8 villages in her electoral area.

On his part the Chief of Adu Kofi , Nana Adu Odjobi I applauded the efforts of The Royal Bank. He was particularly thankful to the Foundation for choosing his community out of the numerous requests received by the Bank.

“I know you have a lot of requests on your hands, but you decided to come to our aid – and for this, the people of Adu Kofi and its surrounding communities, pray to God to continue to bless the efforts of The Royal Bank in its quest to provide water for the poor and needy in the hinterlands”.
