Evangelist Papa Shee, real name Nana Yaw Akosah, has expressed worry about what may have killed highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana on Thursday, December 11, Evangelist Papa Shee, a former music act, revealed that a woman mysteriously popped up from nowhere onto the stage at Daddy Lumba’s last show in Koforidua to wipe his face with a white handkerchief.
“She wiped his face with a white handkerchief and used something like perfume in it. Didn’t you see it? After that you realise [Daddy Lumba] could not breathe properly and wanted water because he started to cough.
“I was sad to see this. Probably, that may have taken his life,” he said in Twi.
Evang. Papa Shee claims he had been to the Eastern Region capital in the past with Daddy Lumba to perform and these things usually happened but in the recent case, which he claimed could be about three months prior to his death, it looked mysterious.
Daddy Lumba died on Saturday, July 26 after a short illness.
Final funeral rites ahead of his burial has been embroiled in controversy with his family divided.
His immediate family had gone to court to stop the ceremony scheduled at the Heroes Park of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 13.
However, after failing to meet a deadline to compensate the Ekuona Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu with GH¢2 million for the plans, the High Court in Accra gave the go-ahead for the ceremony to be held.
Daddy Lumba’s immediate family led by sisters Akosua Bremponmaa and Faustina Fosu wanted the funeral held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 as announced by Evang. Papa Shee, who claimed to be the spokesperson to them.
