
An explosion at factory near OLAM Oil Depot on the Sekondi-Takoradi highway on Tuesday morning has left several of the workers injured.
The explosion is said to have kindled fire at the depot.
According to Connect FM’s Henry Yankee, there was only one fire tender on site to control the spreading inferno but reinforcement came in albeit delayed.
Fears the situation may escalate as a result of the location of the depot between two fuel stations were, as a result, controlled.
Police arrived at the scene to provide security, Connect FM’s reporter said, while theover-150-injured were rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital and the Takoradi Government Hospital.
Some of the injured are said to have suffered second-degree burns with a few referred to the Cape Coast Hospital.
