….Urges Patience Amid Akufo-Addo’s Legacy Mess
By Philip Antoh
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, the outspoken Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwatey, has come to the defense of President John Mahama’s 120-day agenda, asserting that it’s premature to judge the President’s progress in rectifying the economic and national woes left behind by the Akufo-Addo administration.
In a passionate plea to Ghanaians, Mr. Kwatey stressed the need to allow President Mahama more time as he navigates the challenges inherited from his predecessor. He emphatically stated that a mere 120 days is insufficient to gauge the efficacy of the President’s actions in revitalizing the ailing economy.
Addressing the public on a popular television show, Joy TV’s PM Express, closely watched by The Sun, Mr. Kwatey proclaimed the NDC’s unwavering dedication not just to govern but to mend the considerable moral and economic destruction inflicted by the NPP.
Dismissing the notion of expecting immediate miracles after just a few months, Mr. Kwatey attributed the country’s dire state to years of ineffective governance, asserting that expeditious recovery is unrealistic given the deep-rooted issues in need of address.
Though reminded of the 120-day marker set by the NDC, the stalwart leader reiterated that the true yardstick of progress lies in the public’s contentment with their leadership. He ardently expressed his conviction that despite imperfections, the current administration is resolute in surpassing the previous regime’s shortcomings.
Seemingly pointing fingers at the past government’s missteps, Mr. Kwetey underscored the present leadership’s commitment to steering clear of similar errors, staunchly focusing on erecting a sturdy platform for long-term economic revival.
Recognizing the magnitude of the recovery path ahead, Kwatey acknowledged the arduous journey but remained sanguine about the nation’s trajectory towards redemption, emphasizing the essence of enduring alterations over quick fixes to fortify Ghana’s integrity.
Amidst the skepticism and challenges, Mr. Kwetey exuded optimism that with patience and faith, the nation will persevere on the path to restoration under the current leadership’s guidance, striving to instill confidence and repair the damages of yesteryears.
