Parliament’s leadership is set to deliver closing statements on the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy on Thursday, Nov. 27, marking the end of the general debate and setting the stage for detailed committee scrutiny.
In a notice issued by the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, stakeholders were informed that leaders from both sides of the House will present their official assessments and final comments during Thursday’s sitting.
The concluding statements are expected to summarize key positions raised during weeks of deliberations, where Members of Parliament engaged in extensive consultations, sectoral reviews and analysis of the government’s proposed fiscal path for 2026. The remarks will outline priority policy areas, highlight concerns flagged during the debate and provide strategic direction ahead of the next stage of the budget cycle.
Following the leadership’s submissions, the Budget will move to the committee phase, where sector-specific allocations and policy measures will be examined in detail before reports are presented back to the plenary for consideration.
Parliament urged ministries, agencies, civil society groups and other stakeholders to pay close attention to Thursday’s closing statements, as they will shape preparations for upcoming engagements and internal briefings tied to the implementation of the 2026 fiscal agenda.
Further directives and follow-up actions will be communicated after the leadership’s address.
