At least five people lost consciousness during an ongoing Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
One recruit is in critical condition at Emena Hospital in Oforikrom Municipality, while four others are being treated at the Ashanti South Government Hospital, authorities said.
To prevent further injuries, National Security officers arranged for the Ghana Fire Service to provide water for recruits. Some applicants have been asked to return on Thursday and Friday to reduce overcrowding and lower the risk of a potential stampede.
