Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is on an official visit to the State of Qatar at the invitation of the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani.
Talks between the two officials focused on deepening bilateral relations, expanding trade, and strengthening strategic cooperation, particularly in the areas of conflict mediation and multilateral engagement anchored on peace, security, and a rules-based international order.

As part of efforts to boost economic and people-to-people ties, both countries discussed the easing of visa requirements to facilitate travel and the movement of goods. Officials noted that direct flights between Doha and Accra have already resolved a major logistical barrier, paving the way for increased commercial activity and tourism.
Ghana and Qatar also agreed to finalise a labour mobility framework aimed at creating employment opportunities for skilled young Ghanaians in Qatar. The agreement is expected to enhance regulated labour exchanges and safeguard the welfare of Ghanaian workers abroad.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of Ghana and Qatar to advancing mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening their long-standing diplomatic partnership.
