Black Stars and Toulouse FC midfielder Francis Abu is set to be discharged from the Toyota Memorial Hospital this weekend.
This hint was given by the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, on Friday, November 21.
“Francis Abu’s condition has significantly improved,” Mr Asante Twum wrote on Facebook.
“As anticipated, the surgery yielded excellent results, and the player’s spirits are high,” he added, indicating: “The initial rehabilitation is proceeding as planned, and he is expected to be discharged this weekend.”
Abu broke his leg in the Black Stars’ 0-2 loss to Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup game played on Friday, November 14.
A second-half collision with Leeds United’s Ao Tanaka left the Ghanaian with a broken leg.
He was immediately rushed to the Toyota Memorial Hospital, where he has been receiving medical care.
“Gratitude is expressed to the surgeons at the Toyota Memorial Hospital in Japan, the medical staff of the Black Stars, led by Dr. Prince Pambo, and the medical team at Toulouse FC.”
Already, discussions have been held between the medical teams of the Black Stars and Toulouse FC on the best plan for the player’s rehabilitation.
The GFA has also pledged to support the player in this trying time.
