The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the 2025/2026 academic calendar for Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) remains unchanged, while outlining provisions for online and off-campus learning for students in transition schools.
In an immediate release dated January 2, 2026, GES management said the calendar issued at the start of the academic year is still in force, urging heads, teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders to take note of the arrangements.
Under the single-track system, Forms One and Two will report from January 5 to February 27, 2026, resume from May 4, and end the academic year on August 21. Form Three students will complete the school year on June 21 after a brief break in March.
For transition schools, specific online and off-campus learning periods have been integrated into the calendar for all year groups. GES stressed that these periods are not holidays but form a mandatory part of teaching and learning.
To support students during off-campus learning, GES said it has provided access to free approved textbooks and curriculum resources through its online platform (curriculumresources.edu.gh), alongside daily televised lessons on the Ministry of Education TV channel. Schools with functional learning management systems have also been encouraged to fully utilise them, with management pledging support.
GES urged parents, guardians and school authorities to supervise and support students to ensure full participation, noting that the blended approach is intended to guarantee continuity and equity in learning throughout the academic year.
